@growithjessie: Rolling walnuts using only my hands till they change texture and colour…will this really take years? I just started the most satisfying experiment of my life…rolling walnuts. These walnuts are specifically grown for rolling in your hands for years, and over time they get darker, polished, and end up developing a ‘patina’ from oils in the hands/skin. They fall under a hobby called Wenwan, where people ‘age’ objects like these over years…so technically these walnuts are the oldest fidget tool ever invented! The tradition of goes back thousands of years in China! I got 2 pairs and have been hand rolling one for a full week. Now, I’m deciding if I should put the second pair in my rock tumbler to see which develops that polished look faster. Will we need the oils from skin in order to make them shiny? Or will the tumbler work anyway? Two years from now these are going to look completely different…and I’m documenting every step, and I won’t stop rolling these until I reach my end-goal, so come back in a few weeks to see what happens!
