They say communication is key, but what happens when every attempt to communicate is taken as an attack? I understand that tone matters, yet in my situation, my partner feels criticized or spoken down to whenever I try to express myself. Each effort to talk things through quickly turns into an argument, and my words are often interpreted as complaints rather than concerns. And then there is silence that’s like torture, just because we tried to communicate, I’ve learned that true communication involves listening carefully and seeking to understand, and I have been doing that. But what about me? What about my feelings and my need to be heard as well? Now I choose to be silent and not express how I feel, I only do what my partner is okay with, even if it doesn’t sit well with me. Sometimes I think I am the problem, maybe I claim to be always right, but is it in all cases? Is this actually going to work? If yes, how long ?
