I love Zohran and it’s definitely a smear campaign. However, I grew up in Dubai. I was also a teenager in 2013. Dubai kids overwhelmingly receive a western education. Those using racist/homophobic slurs DID know better. It is highly problematic and I am hopeful she takes positive action. Especially since she chooses to be engaged and a public figure (she’s very present.)

Obviously it’s not anywhere near what you experienced, but I remember being outed and called the f-slur every day. People don’t realize how much words like that can erode your sense of worth. I’m so sorry you went through that. Just know that you are valid, and you deserved so much better.

I remember, my 1ST WEEK of 5th grade some older kids said it to me and laughed and that was way before I really understood racism directly but the emotions from that are just way to completely to let go
