if it is just filling in the blanks, it could just be character deep dives and a way to celebrate the series with adventures instead of trying to be narratively groundbreaking.

I’m honestly fine with it because there are unanswered questions from Firefly that Serenity doesn’t answer. Like how is Shepard Book so… knowledgeable about the Operative. Inara’s illness was also left dangling. The “two by two, hands of blue” was also left open (even if it makes sense to us the viewer). There are a lot of places they could go to give more context. Though I did wish they would re-adapt Serenity in the series so we could get further character growth after that. Zoey without Wash and a more.. grown up River would be amazing. I just love that world (problematic creator aside) and I’m going to enjoy any chance to go back.

I thinks is the best news posible, animation is the best form of art, more freedom, more possibilities, for people wondering about the "we know the finale" part take for example critical roles, those are based on their actual already finished campaigns of D&D we know what's the finish line still the show is a 10/10

Bob's burgers has done 15 seasons where the kids never age. Firefly could do 10 seasons in an 8 month period with different monster-a-week episodes

I get the want to ignore Serenity but I am glad they are keeping it canon. I think they can do a lot with the idea that we know how it ends. To me retconning Wash’s death would take away from the experience and would tarnish the series. It SUCKED when he died, and I was like WTF but it’s part of the story. Having loss in your protagonist is just good theater, you have to have loss or it’s just boring. Anyways I’m just happy we are getting more Firefly, I do wish it was live action and set after Serenity, but I’m happy for more Alan Tudyk.

they could do both. the first season or two takes place between the movie & the next takes place after. since the universe seems connected to alien they could find a way to bring wash back.

The Clone Wars was animated and a prequel where we had characters we knew their outcome. And I think it had tension and great story telling.

Nah, no problems here. More firefly is more firefly. I know we have a ton of comics and I think some books that fill in the other timelines, so this is all good for me.

River not having all of her fighting skills, or at least the crew not knowing about them is a concern for me. The animated medium would be perfect to show off what she can do, but it will have to be without the crew noticing and maybe without River noticing either! But I'm here for more Firefly no matter what!

I'm glad for more but I do believe they need to nix the movie altogether. The movie actually retconned a couple of big points in that Simon wasn't there to save river she was delivered to him in cryo stasis and it's implied that the crew was there to save her also since you see a firefly class ship pulling up the platform when he and she escape. it's a nice enough farewell but if your gonna go backward do it the way it should've played out as opposed to how you got pigeon holes into doing it with a movie after a great show got axed

yeah I hope they don't hem themselves in too much. I'm still hoping for a post-Serenity storyline where Wash is brought back as an AI on the ship
