Thank you for this it helped me a lot. im not a parent but I'm living with my dad rent free due to suffering an extreme burnout where I had to walk away from my career, my home, 98% of my belongings, my friends and the city that I loved to move across the country for "support." My father is emotionally immature and I am burnt out. I'm trying my best to handle things in a calm, healthy way but it is extremely difficult. I got triggered and exploded the other day and acted out of character and I'm currently processing an emotional flashback. I was kind of feeling like a big freak but this reminded me that I can handle this. I might have had an extreme moment but 98% of the time I handle things really well. Thank you.

So self compassion is validating your own emotions, not giving yourself space to let things slide or not build skills? Because I think a lot of people interpret it that way and I’m struggling with a coparent that doesn’t get it. Where do accommodations fit it here? Love this video.💗

I’m a bit confused on Need and Desire. Would you say that Need is what do we need to do to calm down in the moment and not have a negative behavior? Would you say desire is what do I want to do instead of having a negative behavior?
