I’m 80, disabled and couldn’t get up and down my stairs. My beautiful daughter had a small, handicapped in-law apartment with a ramp built on to her home exactly 3 years ago today. I have my own kitchen, bedroom and huge walk-in shower and small washer/dryer even. I have privacy and independence but the family is just a door away. I see my grandkids every day and my daughter brings me dinners, snacks and takes care of small things for me that I can’t do. I am so blessed. God bless you sir and don’t give up.

RN here. I was given 35 patients in the last nursing home I worked at. Remember when families took care of each other?! Remember when we didn’t have nursing homes and daycares?! We loved our loved ones at home. Society has really lost its way and it’s a damn shame!😥😭😢

In Ecuador we support financially and take care of our elderly parents and grandparents until they die. It is part of our culture.

I emptied my home, rented it out, and moved in with my dad so he would never have to live in a nursing home. It gave us time to fix our relationship. I'll never forget the day he asked for a kiss . a kiss!? We weren't that kind of family. I said, " Dad, we don't do that." He said, Well we should!" It was such a gift. He died 5 years ago. I really, really miss him.

My lovely mum died on the 9th of March this year age 94. I'm so happy she was cared for at home.🥰

You are very intelligent! Yes, accidents will happen to us but skilled nursing facilities are not the answer. Let us finish our life’s in our own home. 🙏💕
