Renting is paying someone else’s mortgage and helping them gain equity

Why doesn’t anybody consider what’s gonna happen when they’re 65 years old and they’re trying to retire but now they have all these open loans the benefit of owning a home is when you retire all you have is your property taxes to pay cause you’ve paid your home off if you rent and you’re 65 years old, you don’t know what rent is gonna be 30 years from now and you’re gonna constantly have a $2500-$3000 renting bill when you could’ve just kept your house and had it paid off it’s a long-term investment

I bought my home in 2012 sold it in 2023 the money I made on that house I bought the current house I live in with a all cash offer now I have no mortgage?? and if you think because you live in an apartment you don't pay property taxes you do absolutely that's why they keep raising your rent because the owner of the apartments makes you pay the property taxes you just don't know it💯

Ive "owned" several homes. You do t own a home - it owns you. I'm 62 and rent bc of that. I don't have the money to spend $10k on anything!

The big difference between renting and owning is… when you rent and then leave, you get nothing back. Own, however, you get your equity + profit from the sale. It is an investment / asset that appreciates in value over time. Looking at short term vs long term is the issue.

I rented from the age 18 till 50. One of the Rentals I was in the landlord died her kids evicted me. Another rental the landlord went back to his country. Left all his properties in foreclosure. Other Rentals landlords took their time fixing things or I had horrible neighbors. I have stories. Some places were fine. But it was still an uneasy feeling renting. Thank the Lord, the age of 55 my husband and I are homeowners and the house is paid off. If we break down our insurance, it comes to $133 a month. Our taxes are 1600 for the year. Our car is also paid off. Such a blessing.🙌🏻

I own my house, I payed it off. I believe it's overstated about owning a home. Renting is better

buying a home is generational wealth. your children will be the ones who will benefit from it. if your parents had bought a home back in 80s or 90s. you wouldn't be saying the same thing because you won't be paying for shit ( only property taxes). you can also deduct the interest you pay on the house.

If you save specifically for your house you can pay off that escrow shortage when it comes around every year and either stay at your current price or even lower your payment. It’s not talked about enough but has worked for me last few years. Also having home warranty helps with random breaks on big ticket items. There are pros and cons to everything 🤷🏾♀️
