I remember when I was a kid, I had a friend named Tyler. We’re still friends, but he’s in England now and I’m back in my country. Back then, we did everything together, went to school, laughed at the dumbest things, just lived in the moment without even realizing it.
I still remember the day Fortnite came out. He told me, “Yo, download this game,” so I did. After that, it was every day and every night. We’d play until sunrise, not caring about time. Nights turned into mornings, and mornings somehow turned back into nights again. Those days felt endless, simple, real.
We used to get so happy when there was no school, just knowing we could hop on and play for hours. No stress, no responsibilities, just pure happiness. I didn’t know it back then, but those were some of the best moments of my life.
Now I’m 22. I’m married, I have my own house, and I’m about to have a baby boy. I am happy, but it’s a different kind of happy. Not as free, not as light. Sometimes I catch myself wishing I could go back, just for one night, and feel that same feeling again. It’s hard to explain, but I know it’s something I’ll never fully get back.
So to the younger ones, don’t rush to grow up. Stay where you are a little longer. Live fully, laugh more, and make memories you’ll carry forever, because one day, you’ll miss them more than you think.
