He proposed to me even though I told him I didn’t want to get married. Still, we got engaged… and I gave in. After that, everything slowly turned upside down. Most of the time, the ring didn’t feel like love it felt heavy. Like something binding me, holding me in place… almost like a prison. 🥺 We never made it to marriage, but the moment we got engaged, everything between us started to fall apart.

I’m divorced and enjoying my independence and living alone for the first time and I do have someone I love who wants to get married but since awakening I view marriage completely different now. I love my freedom and never want to be tied to a contract again. I love the idea of a conscious marriage, a commitment of the heart, leaving the state out of it.

Nah, doesn't work that way in Australia. If you've been with someone for 2 years, it is considered a de facto relationship which is exactly the same as being married when it comes to property etc.
