This is why we need to reduce management positions. They are non value added positions.

Don’t come with a problem without a solution. As a leader it’s exhausting.

Mine doesn’t even acknowledge what I say and just keeps talking about something else. I feel like I’m talking to a wall.

Yes. My toxic manager was like “come to me with problems! I want to help!” And then somehow it was all my fault.

This had been happening lately, the real problems are being ignored, my team and I are being asked to improve instead.

I’ve seen this happen… you leave the meeting with more pressure, not more clarity.

For managers or leaders saying “Don’t come with a problem without a solution. As a leader it’s exhausting.” Aren’t managers and leaders hired to be the problem solver and support the team? If everyone can come up with a solution to their problems, do they really need a leader? The reality is that not everyone has the ability or enough resources to have a solution, and sometimes there genuinely isn’t a solution. If you are not willing to at least try finding a solution for your team maybe you shouldn’t be a leader or manager.

My coworker wasn't doing her work. My manager said go be a leader and solve the problem. Hmmm..... yep, I wasn't a good enough leader. I should have run.

You mean asking you to focus on yourself. That is a good manager.

My first day at this one company I went into work and they showed me my office and computer and I asked them who would be training me. The HR manager looked at me with a blank face and said you couldn’t ask a couple of the girls if you need help. I have lots of experience, but this is a completely new industry to me. I don’t know their policies or procedures. They spoke in acronyms I had no idea what meant. I asked my director for help and she said., “ oh my God this is easy, I don’t understand how you don’t know how to do this.” When I asked her how she would like a specific job done she told me to do it how I thought it should be done. And when I completed it, she would complain about how wrong it was. It took me three weeks, and I’ve never done it before, but I left my job. I found out after I left that she had gone through nine other employees in that position over the previous 18 months!

This is a dreadful take. Thats a very normal question to help you come up with a solution yourself and grow as an employee

I knew I wasn’t cut out for mgt in this company anymore when my boss told me that my projects that were all on time and on budget, could be early and under budget if I just worked more hours and stayed later.

If you work for a toxic company, it doesn’t matter. The leadership is always gonna be toxic one way or another. It’s gonna trickle down. and I would say any business with more than 2000 employees is most likely toxic from the top down.

I went to my boss with a serious issue, she did this EXACT thing to me, and then brought up a completely seperate complaint she had about me to pile on 'while I was in her office'. Any advice?

Went to them for help and did an “investigation” and pull me into a meeting with both managers and hr representative saying “we have come to the conclusion that you are causing a toxic work environment” I was the one begging for help… I have overachieved and gone above and beyond with little to NO help from my coworkers… the burnout is insane…

I got better. It’s when you bring up a problem and the manager says, no one has ever told me about it. What the f you think I’m doing now! 🤦‍♂️

I disagree. I would never impose what you could’ve done better but I would ask questions to help solve the problem together. It’s a coaching technique to help others work through solutions. It’s the approach that matters and what you say but it’s helping others draw their own solutions. Draw the leader out in them
