@vocaldecoding: If you record yourself singing and then you cringe when you play it back and hear yourself because you sound nothing like you thought you sounded, this video is for you. Here are three things that are non-negotiable. You absolutely have to do them if you want to improve this. Number 1: You can't take anything personally. You cannot take any of this personally. You have to develop a very thick skin. Listen academically, not judgmentally. You're strictly looking for information. You're trying to discover and assess your voice in a very relaxed, positive, non-judgmental light, very realistically. Then you're going to write down everything you feel needs improvement. Number 2: You're going to improve your skill set. Everything you wrote down can be improved. Make sure you're not doing it in a judgmental way, but really academically assessing what you feel needs to improve non-emotionally. And then start working on the skill set. Number 3: Focus more on the condition than on the symptom. Here's what I mean by that. You might have a squeezed high note. Don't focus on the squeezed high note. Don't just keep doing it over and over again. Focus on the condition that creates the squeezed high note, which could possibly be a really high larynx that's knocking out your bridge. I don't record because I can hear myself missing the note before I miss it and if I can, I try to drop it? idk if this is correct but my thought process is to drop it instead because I'd rather practice having my throat in the right position while missing the note, than not having enough breath and getting comfortable with trying to push through while hitting the wrong note 😭
