It is important to understand that most video mixers and cameras are designed to accept line-level or consumer-level audio signals, typically via 3.5mm inputs, rather than full professional XLR outputs from an audio console.
Because of this, using a 3.5mm output from the mixer to feed the video mixer or camera is not inherently wrong. In fact, it is often a practical approach to ensure proper signal compatibility and to avoid overloading the input stage of the video equipment.
The key consideration is proper level matching and signal attenuation, since the output from a professional audio console can be significantly hotter than what a video device expects. As long as the signal is properly managed to prevent distortion or clipping, sending audio via a 3.5mm connection is a valid and widely used solution in many setups.

It might not be the best but it is not wrong. It all depends on what is available.

Well, this might be a bit controversial. I'm not sure using a 3.5 jack is wrong as we have them also is stereo. I'm not a professional sound engineer but I think it's also about the available equipment the church have. using a 3.5m jack with an irig for live streaming don't disappoint either. We use a sound card in our case but we can not fault churches that don't have the financial strength and are making effort.

The word “Wrong” is even wrong here. You can’t just consider it wrong when you can’t technically back it up with facts

One thing I have come to understand about audio you can box the knowledge of audio in a particular way . What you think is not the best someone else will use it and get a great result. IRE OH

there are both stereo and mono 3.5mm plugs. the 3.5mm stereo plug can sufficiently feed a stereo signal.
