ok so they can conduct a free air sniff anytime and need no probable cause. An alert from a dog gives probable cause. However, police cannot prolong a traffic stop just to wait for a dog absent specific circumstances.

I support cops, they are great! maybe they already had a lead on these two? but I feel like since they proved they just bought it and it’s not stolen then why bring a dog? To me it seems like it’s gone from being pulled over for no tag, to well we are going to try to find something to get you on. This of course is going to escalate the situation and anger these people, and all for what? Like I said maybe they already had a lead on these two so that’s why they are pushing search so hard, but if they don’t, I feel like this is over stepping and wasting peoples time while endangering everyone on scene by escalating things for no reason..
