We gave film cameras to the crew on our new research vessel. Here are some of the photos they took! This spring, the R/V David Packard made its maiden voyage from Spain, through the Panama Canal, to the vessel’s home port in Moss Landing, California. The crew photographed their journey home.   It takes talented individuals from a variety of disciplines to operate a research vessel. From engineers maintaining the ship, to ROV pilots preparing research equipment, to the deck crew steering and keeping watch, teamwork and collaboration keep the ship sailing smoothly.   The crew of R/V David Packard—and MBARI’s entire marine operations team—play a critical role in our ability to access and study the ocean and its inhabitants. Our ships are crucial to our work, allowing us to deploy underwater robots and a diverse suite of technologies to understand our changing ocean. #FilmPhotography #FilmPhotos #TravelPhotography #FujiFilm #Kodak
