I share this now because I can comfortably say that the trauma is behind all of us, BoBo will continue to live his best life, and to serve as a reality check that animal stewardship is often wrought with large amounts of cortisol in the part of us humans. It’s what you sign up for. While I was out of town the other week, one of our sweet Mustangs (and my best li’l pocket 🚀) was bitten by a rattlesnake. The chances of this happening are extremely slim, but of course my little miracle pony loves to beat the odds 😅 His breathing was extremely labored for ~24 hours. He couldn’t eat or drink because of the swelling. My amazing village at home of friends, family, and veterinary professionals managed to give Bodhi everything he needed within that time to give him a shot at surviving. Flash forward 2 weeks… Bo is bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to raise hell once again. Watching him finally run back out into pasture with his herd again felt emotional in the best possible way. Seeing him move freely, without pain, greet his friends, and settle back into being a horse again honestly felt like getting a piece of him back. This little Mustang fought hard to stay here. And I don’t think I’ll ever watch a simple turnout the same way again. 🤍. Link in bio
