I don't think this take is 100% fair. in excerpts from her book she describes Aham's behavior as problematic at best and unkind at worst. she is asking people to believe something thar is genuinely hard to accept: please believe i am happy with this person who hurt me. that all being said, I still think people need to get past whatever skepticism they have and give her the benefit of the doubt.

My relationship didn't start poly. I was hesitant, I couldn't imagine it being something I wanted. Upsides: Communication skills with my husband are next level great. I don't feel burdened to meet all of his needs because more people are involved. I have more time to work on myself and my goals. I no longer feel anxious around friends because I can flirt with anyone I want even though I'm in a relationship! This is the first time I get to be fully and unabashedly myself in a relationship and I LOVE it!

I'm halfway through the book. I don't think Aham is a villain. I think she genuinely came to love Roya and seems very happy now. But I do wonder if this polycule ended, would she be open to another one? It almost feels like Roya was too good to be true - the perfect kind person who Lindy could learn to relax around and let in. I just wonder if Lindy would continue to be poly if Roya exited the relationship.

I don’t agree that people always know their own emotional states I believe that a lot of people mask those; it makes massively difficult for me, an ADHD and trauma survivor; who literally can read the true emotions of someone.

This is a great take. I've always been a Lindy West fan and feel like I want what's best for her. I do feel like I'm projecting a little from having entered a poly relationship not entirely enthusiastically in the past. But I hope she's good. (I'm good now too.)
