Or just start the car and disconnect the positive on the battery, if it dies it’s the alternator if it stays running it’s the battery 🤦♂️

But isn't it cheaper to try a new battery first before ordering an alternator?

It’s 100% a parasitic draw if it’s overnight set multi matter to ohms and hook leads from disconnected ground cable to battery ground and go pulling fuses till it stops reading above 70 mA

I chased a battery issue for a few weeks after the polar vortex. Kept trying, kept trying. Passed the test every time, my alternator was working fine, and I even replaced the key fob battery (the symptoms I had gave the possibility for that to be the case). Turned out the TMobile Sync-Up I plugged into my OBD sensor thingy-majig for in-car internet was draining my battery overnight and the cold was not helping at all 😂

Had this happen with my wife's Honda civic. Wasn't the battery, wasn't the alternator. Gave up and brought it to Honda. It was the driver side "key detector" that would unlock the door automatically. They wanted $700 to fix it. Told them to just leave it disconnected and haven't had issues since.

Or the car has a parasitic draw. If the alternator didn’t work the car wouldn’t drive very far.

I had an alternator go bad the same way. It had an internal diode fail. It would charge and everything would seem normal until you turned the car off the alternator would stay electronically excited and drain my battery over night

My diehard battery lasted 15 years and probably couldve kept going. But i figured after 15 it was time to get a new one. To bad there are no good battery brands anymore so ill probably have to replace it every 2-3 years

dont need to worry about low voltage cut off if you properly install it to run through an accessory port that powers on with car start 🫠

I had the battery test fine. Had to jump it then 2 3 days fine then boom no start. Turned out one of the plates had gone boom even the outside case had slightly curved. Took me a week before I got a new battery cause work and stuff but annoying it certainly was

I knew it was the alternator exactly ONE time, because it literally couldn't be anything else. Was driving down the highway and my entire truck died out of the blue. I was just lucky I was going fast enough to have enough momentum to get safely to the shoulder, since I was two lanes over from it.

most of those tests are voltage and not amperage tests
