As a researcher in biochemistry and molecular biology I support your hypothesis is correct. Have you read the research of adr Derrick Lonsdale into thiamine deficiency causing mitochondrial dysfunction ???

I've been supplementing thiamine (benfotiamine) with no effect. I suspect I will need another supplement.

This is why I eat a #wfpb diet 🩷Excellent sources of vitamin B1 (thiamine) include nutritional yeast, sunflower seeds, and legumes like black beans or lentils. You can also find high amounts in whole grains such as spelt, oats, and brown rice.
Seeds: Flax, chia, and pumpkin seeds.
Vegetables: Green peas, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts.
Nuts: Macadamias and pistachios.

I always feel a significant diff whenever I take a mult vit and also whenever I only take a Multi Bs vitamin. Thought d/t B12 but now after learning from you, no doubt it’s the B1 (thiamine). I just can’t get past the strong smell of the multi vit and Multi B vitamin. Started holding my breath when I open the lid and take it lol

Vince :
A severe deficiency of vitamin B1 (thiamine) leads to a condition known as beriberi. This disease can affect both the cardiovascular system and the nervous system, causing symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, nerve damage, and even heart complications. While mild deficiencies may go unnoticed at first, a prolonged lack of thiamine can have serious health consequences. Ensuring a balanced diet that includes whole grains, legumes, and other nutrient-rich foods is essential to prevent such deficiencies and maintain overall well-being.
