Honestly, for me this is unforgivable, they changed Michael into Michaela, and it completely ruins one of the most beautiful love stories in the series. In the book, everything made sense: it was a deep, complicated love that led to a marriage and the child Francesca longed for. It felt complete and truly satisfying.
And now what? In that time period, a relationship between two women would be socially unacceptable, so how are they even going to handle this? They can’t get married, they can’t have a child, and having a family was one of Francesca’s biggest desires. If they do end up together, they’ll have to hide their relationship, which is hardly a happy ending for her. 🥺
I’m genuinely curious how they’re going to resolve this, because right now it feels like a change made just for the sake of it, at the expense of the story’s logic and emotional payoff.
