@helloitsmia.tech: Did Silicon Valley predict this? 😅 A recent AWS outage that lasted 13 hours was reportedly triggered after engineers used an internal AI coding tool called Kiro. The tool decided the best move was to “delete and recreate the environment”, which… yeah, caused a massive disruption (mainly impacting China). Amazon says it wasn’t really the AI’s fault, calling it “user error” due to misconfigured permissions, and claims the tool normally asks for approval before doing anything risky. But according to internal reports, this is at least the second time their AI tools have been linked to outages, and employees say the issues were “entirely foreseeable.” Meanwhile leadership has been pushing heavy adoption of the tool (like… 80% weekly usage targets), which feels very on-brand for a Silicon Valley plotline where everyone ignores the obvious risks until something breaks….

They tried so hard to send the industry a message with this final season, and wow did it not work. One of the most bone chilling sounds I’ve ever heard was a tech CEO gleefully asking an employee if they watched Silicon Valley that night. In my head I was like “*I* watched it last night, and if *you* understood it at all, you should have hated it.”

This show is one of my absolute favorites. The end is completely unrealistic though, because they choose to do the right thing at their own expense.

Guilfoyle’s system was much more efficient and capable than LLMs. And it was pretty clearly not an LLM.
