Genuine question, but aren’t minors supposed to be home at a certain hour in SK?

Like why are teachers testing on things that they haven’t been taught? Are they just assuming all kids should go to academies? Shouldn’t they make tests based on what they taught in school?

Why are they placing so much emphasis on high school? I get that it’s important and all but like… being overly educated on high school level subjects is kinda useless imo, knowing all about introduction to chemistry just to get to college and learn languages or humanity like okay what was all that for

I feel like the amount of intense studying & virtually living at a 학원 is just going to further cause social and health students. It just feels like they want the majority of the student population to be as overly educated as possible even into attaining a highly respected career choice :/. Like it looks good but it feels like the system is gonna collapse in some way

In my country we have school from 7 to 1 and never heard of someone going to an academy, that’s really sad they’re still young for all that stress

An education system where regular classes don't cover all the material necessary to pass tests is already no longer working. Either tests should be changed to only cover what can be reasonably taught in regular classes or schools should be given the resources to give students the full curriculum. It blows my mind how much of their childhood children lose to this kind of system.

I'm in Japan, and I read an article saying that about half of parents regret having their kids study for the entrance exams so much. My own son is only 2 rn, but he will have options that don't require that level of study. He can focus on hobbies and being a kid if he wants. Hell, I did my Master's online and I'm a professor now. Studying too much without rest gives less return anyway at some point.

Not only they're promoting stressful environments to students but also to teachers atp. I used to do school from 6am to 4pm and go to supplemental classes from Mon-Sat, 3 hours for 2 classes per day. I can't imagine being at 학원, then go home, can't sleep because you need to study for 입학 exams. Teacher's pays in 학원 is also not that much unless they get bonuses for having top students or bonuses from parents from what I read years ago, I'm not sure if that's still ongoing.

Why would a parent put its kid in a situation like that?
Sleeping is so important for our mental and physical health

Genuinely, how do students get enough sleep and rest so that they grow properly physically and mentally? Because kids this age need rest, surely…
