Without theory how would you build the software to do those designs? You should know how our curriculum was developed by the NUC, a lecturer would not go out of the scope. So don't blame it on them. There's a new curriculum in use now (CCMAS) that covers the use of software in engineering development of projects and designs. We might not have gotten to the stage of the UK but we're making progress.
