I’m only kind of kidding… A friendly PSA for anyone that works with ANY TRAVEL ADVISOR: if you are working with a travel advisor and they are not charging you a professional service fee, then they are not paid in any capacity until AFTER you travel. Not when you request a quote. Not when you book. AFTER you travel. You keep requesting quotes and never book? Your travel advisor is never paid. You book a trip and then decide to cancel last minute because you changed your mind? Your travel advisor is never paid. In most cases, travel advisors are not hourly/salaried employees. They are independent contractors who get paid commission by industry partners. This post is not meant to shame anyone. I understand life happens, and I’m always willing to work with my clients to make their dream trip come to life. But requesting proposal after proposal while never booking - especially when your advisor doesn’t charge a fee. It’s the equivalent of going into a hair salon, getting highlights and a haircut, and then walking out the door without paying. Just something to be mindful of as we enter this holiday season where travel interests hits a peak. #travel #traveladvice #traveladvisor
