@josedavinci_: Hello clan! Here’s a quick breakdown of how I painted the NMM gold on this miniature, Nessa from The Age of Rift. To make NMM gold work, the most important thing is creating strong contrast between light and shadow. If we don’t push that enough, the result can look more like wood than gold. That’s why the highlights need to be pushed really hard, but in a very small space. Edge highlights are also super important, because metallic materials catch and bounce a lot of light on the sharp edges. 1. I start with a base coat of Orange Brown, trying to keep it as smooth and even as possible. 2. Then I apply a wash of Orange Brown Quick Gen Color to add definition and strengthen the shadows. 3. After that, I begin the first highlights with a mix of Sahara Yellow + Orange Brown. 4. The next highlights are done with Sahara Yellow, reducing the size of each highlight as I go. 5. Then I keep pushing the light with Sahara Yellow + Ice Yellow. 6. From there I continue brightening up to Ivory, and finally use pure white for the strongest final sparkles. 7. To bring back a bit of richness in the midtones, we can glaze some lemon yellow very softly over those areas.
