Thank you for this for years. I was a tomboy. I wanted to short hair. I would only wear jeans baggy hoodies all free school. I got in to college before Covid. I started dressing all like a girl and all free Covid I decided to feel more elegant and girly no one ever pressured me to do anything I didn’t want to.

💯💯💯 I'll also note that trying to separate gender identity from sex is misogynistic when it is so inherently tied to female oppression & borne out of violence against women in the first place - it's actually very dehumanizing the more that I think about it & don't know why society tolerate it when it is essentially appropriation

as a mother to a trans son I did a lot of research to understand what would causes gender Dysphoria and my child and was pretty shocked to learn that brain scans show that the brains of trans femmes and trans mascs align closer with the sex they indentify their gender as vs the body they were born into, I find this highly fascinating and hard to ignore why it might be causing someone distress to live in a body that betrays the brain, luckily we have treatments that lessen the dysphoria, unfortunately we still have stigmas that perpetuate suicide rates even after medical treatment is provided. My kid is a badass and teaches me everyday how to live authentically regardless of how society and our government treat him, I just hope and pray he can live long enough to see better days for himself and trans folks

You can’t possibly wrap your head around how someone who would rather be one “sex” may also prefer to dress and act in a way that gets them perceived as that sex? This is really a mind boggling idea to you? You should read The Will to Change by Bell Hooks to understand better how gender perception plays a role in shaping personality.

funny thing that there are trans people who don't do anything to pass other than small things like clothes hair makeup but those people are way more likely to get misgendered or something even worse most trans actions are to appeal to the social construct of gender

Claiming that you’re a “biological female” and wishing you were are two different things and but even biological sex has social connotations associated with it and this is what’s being desired from people who medically transition not just for the sake of “biology”. Also idk how many trans women you’ve talked to but the ones I’ve talked to don’t seem to care wether they were born female or not they just think of themselves as women and biology doesn’t really play a factor but that’s gonna come down to personal experience interacting which makes it kinda irrelevant. Honestly you just said a whole lotta nothing with this video.

you say "always" but then when there are trans women and trans men who do not change their appearance and do not take hormones or undergo surgeries they get told they're not actually trans and get extremely bullied. like the behavior you're presenting as proof of you theory exists because of people like you!

You're invalidating your own point there, you're making a point and then giving an example that answer a comepletely different question. You said that the problem is that trans women don't think that they are female, and then as evidence you said that if you'd ask any trans woman if she thinks she would be happy if she was female. These aren't the same thing, in fact, you're proving yourself wrong, because admitting that "she would be happy if she was born female", is her saying that SHE IS NOT female now. So no, trans women don't think they are female. And yes they would definitely want to be born female, and WANT to be the opposite sex but that doesn't mean they can be the opposite sex. You're confusing a lot of things and proving nothing.

if it's not about sex, they wouldn't need to undergo all these medical procedures to mimic the female body. they also wouldn't insist on being accepted into female spaces. gender and sex are different but they are the ones conflating the two, reinforcing regressive sexist stereotypes in the process.

Okay, your argument seems to be really confused. You said that transgender women can't separate gender and sex because "most trans women would say they want to be born female". That actually denotes they CAN distinguish between the two. Transgender women DESIRE to be born female, that doesn't mean they factually believe they ARE born female, and you cannot desire what you don't have, meaning that yes, trans women can and do in-fact make the distinction between gender and sex.

I was struggling with this same idea until someone told me "well x sex is heavily tied to x gender, so of course they would want to change their secondary sex characteristics to more closely align with that genders typical presentation, but it's not JUST about sex, otherwise they'd medically transition but keep their lifestyle/self expression the same"
