This girl just hit the nail on the head. IBS just feels like such a dismissive diagnosis. And treatment options are truly limited.

i think it's more the it's not treatable part that's disapointing like with heds or gastroparesis or endomeriosis etc we're happy and relieved to finally have a diagnosis but at thé same time it doesn't change anything we still have to live (survive) with it

I was diagnosed with IBS almost 10 years ago after all of the tests came back normal. 1 month after I started getting treatment for endometriosis (4 years ago), 90% of my gastrointestinal issues disappeared completely. I went to a GI doctor for a follow up and told him about it and he said to me "wow, I didn't know hormones could affect this" and sent me home with a "I'm glad you're feeling better"

my ibs was multiple pelvic floor prolapses and gut muscles that literally don’t work. i cried after i got testing done and they told me it wasn’t just in my head, there was actually a fixable issue

They have literally always said “there’s nothing we can do for you.” Okay cool I will just continue having horrible abdominal pain forever 🧐 when they try to send me back to GI I tell them not to bother.

Yeah, my IBS turned out to be gastroparesis. IBS means I don’t know what’s wrong with you and I’m not gonna keep looking

I've had IBS-D since my teens. As a 25yr old woman, I've just accepted that I will never have normal bowel moments, I can either take Imodium constantly or risk not making it to the bathroom, and I will have abdominal cramps daily. Any time I ask for help, it's just "take imodium".

My IBS was food intolerance. Dr. Had me try Dairy free and allergy testing and it turned out I had a type 4 reactivity disorder that was difficult to link up the symptoms to the allergy!
