@yorkshirefluffpack: 🐶Dog Behaviour🐶 Its not all fluffy pups and cuddles on walks. I am a firm believer that dogs are the best teachers for other dogs. A little back story, Rufus is a young border collie who has some behavioural issues and anxieties when I first met him. He was super excited to see people, but he was very anxious to leave his house with me and his owners, and even more anxious about getting in a car. Fast forward to now and Rufus will happily leave the house and jump in cars for his walks. However, as you can see he is quite a rude and pushy puppy. He hasnt had enough social interactions to help him learn appropriate manners around other dogs. Rufus has been on walks with my quieter group to start to help with his confidence and has now moved to the group that I always planned for him to be on, with the bigger pups who are a bit more playful. This is his second walk with this group and so far, his behaviour is coming on beautifully with a pack of well rounded dogs and structured walks. Hector, the dog he targets for humping is a big floppy soft boy who doesnt really stand his ground much. Albus however is a confident, assertive boy who is playful and sweet, but doesnt tolerate rude behaviour. This video is a fascinating watch showing an assertive but fair dog teaching a young, rude dog appropriate manners while ensuring the situation doesnt escalate. Now, I dont leave it all to the dogs. If Hector shows any discomfort or becomes uncomfortable, Rufus is leashed up immediately.
