For five semesters, I travelled to Birmingham twice a week, covering around 200 miles each time. I had to wake up at 6:00 a.m. to arrive at the university by 9:30 a.m. I also paid for parking and many other travel expenses. Now I am being told that this does not count. It is very difficult to understand why, after four years, nobody informed us that attendance on weekdays was required. If this rule existed, students should have been clearly told from the beginning. Almost all of the money I borrowed from Student Finance went towards attending WIC, including travel, parking, and other costs connected with my studies. I feel that students have been treated unfairly. There are around 23,000 students affected by this situation. In my view, WIC has responsibility for the way the course was presented, but Student Finance England should also recognise the impact this has had on students and show fairness by supporting those who acted in good faith and followed the arrangements given to them.
