They used to have an old fashioned photo shop where you could get a Victorian or saloon themed picture taken. It’s closed now but I miss it

I live in Washington and encounter rattlesnakes and tumbleweed on the regular 😂 people forget the east side of the state exists

Yeah, if you visit Winthrop, I HIGHLY recommend you go to the Schaeffer museum it tells you all about Winthrops history and has super cool old stuff

There are a lot of Wild West style towns in Washington, it’s not at all exclusive to Winthrop. Granite Falls and Arlington are great examples, they’re losing their Wild West vibes because of all the new housing development, but downtown Arlington and South Granite Ave in Granite Falls still have an old-timey feel. Old brick buildings, false fronts on the businesses, ect.

Winthrop is a great little town but the entire drive over the north cascades and the Methow Valley to Lake Chelan is awesome. One of the best scenic drives around.

As sad as it is to reckon with, many of these places would be DEAD without tourism. Lots of the non Ag. Industries are dying and you can feel it in the towns far away from the city. So complex, so hard. Forever thankful for the lovely locals that work so hard to bring joy to the places that do thrive 💕
