The answer isn't to first call your wife, it's to think about what milk you see in your fridge every day. If you use the item, or see it when you open a cabinet or a fridge then youve likely seen a brand or color or type and can critically think about the people in your home and choose an item that is most likely correct.

You are calling FAR TOO MUCH. . Teach them to go shopping WITH their partner the first time, so they can decide TOGETHER what things they both prefer. Then when they work TOGETHER with their partner to write the list, they already know which milk, or apples, or peanut butter, etc. gets used in the house.
