My A1C was 13 and now is 7.9, trending down. Prioritizing protein is a huge part of how i dropped my A1C in coordination with medication!

people saying to cut carbs completely make me sad. veggies are carbs. fruits are carbs. fiber is a carb. there are different types of carbs. the order in which you eat your macros makes a huge difference in glucose load. gestational diabetes is tricky for me because i HAVE TO have carbs at *every* meal AND snack. my dietician said i need 15-30 carbs for breakfast and snacks, and 45-60 carbs for lunch and dinner. its hard to get that many carbs in a well balanced meal when you arent used to eating a lot of veggies or whole grains. ive learned a lot by having gestational diabetes. going for a walk after eating has helped my numbers a ton, too. if i dont eat before bed(with carbs), or if i fast too long, my numbers shoot up

Food order helps : Fiber, Protein, Fat and then eat your carbs. I monitor mine using CGM and it shows

I am a diabetic and have been told many different things, but this is the first time something makes sense. I’m going to try this and see if there are any improvements and if I can sustain it long-term.

Just got my results in this morning and the news wasn’t good to say the least but here we are. Talk about learning how to eat all over again, this will definitely be a lifestyle change.

Thank you for actually admitting that oatmeal and fruit are both carbs and are not the best way to start the day! I literally posted on another TikTok that there’s so much misinformation out there. I made the comment that when I was diagnosed as diabetic, the nutritionist told me to eat oatmeal in the morning. I was absolutely shocked that I was being told to eat carbs at the start of my day. There were so many people who replied to my comment that were so rude to me and gaslighting me saying that I was uneducated and I needed to do my research because oatmeal actually is healthy for us especially oatmeal with fruit is the best start of the day. I literally had to delete the comment because of all the hate I was getting just because I said oatmeal is not the best way to start the day. So thank you for validating what I learned in my actual research – because I actually am educated.

This feels like great advice for t2ds. If you have t1d, all that matters is can you dose insulin properly and time it properly. No food paring would change much of anything if you dont have insulin ratios and timing of the dose down
