@bringhomebliss: Sometimes it can be really hard to tell if your newborn is hungry or gassy! Especially when they start crying seemingly out of nowhere and it’s been a little bit since their last feeding. Parents often feed thinking it must be a hunger cry and that can lead to a cycle of over feeding/gas and discomfort. My rule of thumb is if it has been 1-1.5 hours and they are usually making it a bit longer between feeds, it’s likely gas. Try some gas relieving positions or a pacifier to see if that helps calm them/they pass gas. Of course we don’t want to go by the clock for feeding newborns- we want to feed on demand!
