I really don’t believe that romantic love can exist between a man and a woman. I think the idea was created as propaganda to get women to marry poor men when there was an excess of unmarried poor men. Marriage was created to be transactional. Poor men weren’t getting married because a woman’s first owner (father) didn’t want to sell his property off to a man who couldn’t afford her. Romantic love was created so that women would defy the dowry standards and marry poor men against the will of their families. Marrying the excess men off protected the community from the excess men turning violent and wreaking havoc on the community. They could focus their violence on their wives instead- as the norm was back in the day.
