I’m a retired teacher, I had to take early retirement because of health issues, but anyway, lol! I feel the same way about my former students. I taught for 19 years and I still have my old “babies” message and check in on me every now and then. It’s a good feeling. I, like you, don’t friend them or approve being friends with them until after they’re done with school. It just doesn’t feel right.
