Misery, Salem’s Lot, and 11/22/63 are probably the best entry points

I started with King in the late 70’s with Carrie and later Salems Lot. I always recommend those for beginners. Yours are good picks. Read Pet Sematary long before I had kids and it still hits hard. Woke me up with nightmares after reading. On Writing is such gem, essential for any serious King fan.

wow, completely different set from my first three, which if i can remember were IT, The Dark Half and From a Buick 8. On writing is fantastic, but of course completely different from his other books. To be honest, i didn't love Misery, and i do prefer his more supernatural horrors. I havent read Pet sematary so can't comment. My personal starter three would be Salem's Lot, The Stand and Christine, in that order of preference

I’m working my way through all of them by publication order. The Talisman is up next. Stand outs for me so far are Carrie, Salems Lot, Pet Semetary and The Shining.

I highly recommend reading one of his short story collections first actually you get a good feel for his writing style before you get into his bigger books

Dreamcatcher is so underrated IMO, unsure if I’m biased as it was my first King novel but even upon reflection I feel it’s a great portrayal of his writing style and character building
