I support time out for toddlers followed by a short conversation and apology. Older kids “time out” would be the kids being sent to their room and they can come down when certain behavioral expectations are met.

Respectfully, this is ridiculous. Gentle parenting doesn't work. It's been proven time and time again. And if your older children are fighting and hitting one another, I think there's more to discipline, then explaining it to them. Because they should already know better, you shouldn't have to explain it to them. They're old enough to know better and if they don't, then that's a problem on your end, because they should already know this is inappropriate behavior and you should not have to sit and explain to big a** children on why they shouldn't hit their siblings , why they shouldn't show out in a store, why they shouldn't throw things or be disrespectful to others or why they shouldn't do certain things. Because they are already old enough to know better. At an older age, if they are still having problems where they are putting their hands-on their siblings or not Listening or tearing up things. I think there should be more to their discipline than you.Just explaining to them why they shouldn't do that. would you not think that a child that is of an older age should already know better. because this should be something that has already been taught. you shouldn't still have to be explaining. And redirecting them. that's something you do at two and three years old. So considering this is the case, what would you recommend? i would just like to hear what you have to say. Thanks Because i'm old school and I would have an entirely different set of rules and discipline to go with it.

This conversation 20 years ago was spanking doesn’t work. now 20 years later It’s time out doesn’t work. In 20 more years It’s gonna be just tell your kids to do whatever they want, I understand.😳
