In all honesty being a step parent is hard. No matter what you do they do not view you like they do their parents. It’s very exhausting and emotionally hard. This has just been my experience.

Yes. Sometimes because you’re not the biological parent you’ll be seen as the “mean” one. But me…I don’t care! My biological and non biological children are treated the same. I may be a little harder on my daughter because she’s mine. But do what we say and respect us and this house! Do what your mom allows over there! But here, we run this! We will show you all how to be respectful decent humans.

As a mom and foster mom , this is something I hear all the time that I’m to controlling but then I see how other kids act in public and how parent can’t control their children the child control the parent . I can careless what they think .

Our house has all the same rules, structure qnd guidelines for all kids. But when it comes to anything involving discipline, I do all discipline for my kids and my husband does it for his. That was something I had told him from that start I was not comfortable with it. Even my own kids when they are with their dad and step mom have entire new rules then come home and it takes a bit to transition back into our normal routine.
