@dr.shawna: “Which women”? is a surprisingly important and powerful question. And while you’ve probably heard about intersectionality before, I’m hoping to break it down in a new way that speaks to the history, importance, and function of that theory. This women’s history month, it is important to talk about the contributions of Black scholars to our understandings of power and the different identities we all carry. #tiktokcampaign #WomensHistoryMonth #womenshistory
This was an extremely generous answer to a bad faith statement. Thanks for your work 👏

There is a recent clip where @bluetelusma describes her earlier resistance to trans women as a BW. The clip is from a podcast with Carlos King I believe. Her deconstruction of her experience and what she posits may be the experience of other BW who are resistant was incredibly informative. She also posted a video where she talks about the fact that she worked through those emotions and doesn’t abide by anyone’s dehumanization. I recommend it if you haven’t seen either.

I feel like this is so important to teach children this cause it's crucial to understanding our friends and neighbors. and how to really get that your world isn't everyone's world

Wanda Sykes has also talked about this in her comedy, of the ‘trifecta of discrimination’: a Black woman who is a lesbian, and how she cannot separate those

I adore your work on here. I finished my undergrad in arts a few years ago and I truly miss getting into the weeds of theory around gender and identity 🥰💗

I won’t ever understand getting mad at being called cis. It’s not an insult. It’s just a descriptive word like talk, short, heavy, skinny, long hair, short hair, whatever. I don’t really use it in my vocab but I don’t feel attacked.

Saem.me :
There's also the fact that denying that both trans women and cis women are just two categories of women means insisting that cis women are just 'women' and trans women are therefor 'other.' It's a way to police language to deny inclusion and prevent acceptance.
It's kind of the same pool of issues as a woman who is a doctor who doesn't want to be called a 'lady doctor.' If we're only adding the qualifier on one of them, that category is seen as an exception to the rule of "doctors are men." So when we talk about how things like pay gaps affect women doctors, we don't just talk about how things affect women doctors over doctors in general - we specify men doctors, the same way we specify cis women.
