Trad IRAs are great for lowering taxable income…. If you don’t have a 401k with a match they are ABSOLUTELY a necessary part of a holistic financial plan. Most people don’t need a financial advisor on theirs though, not until you have a certain net worth

Yes, you can just invest in a fund, but you pay fees to those funds anyway. Might as well hire a financial advisor who can build a portfolio with individual securities and pay the advisor your fee. They probably offer planning too

I had a young client where doing traditional this year vs Roth is actually better. They will be able to qualify for a 2k tax credit that they other wise wouldn’t have gotten. Most people and advisors for that fact aren’t doing proactive tax planning
