The dummy itself was 3D sculpted in Nomad Sculpt on the iPad. The head, upper torso, and base are all three separate pieces… along with the detached hand. The head and eye cavities are hollow…eyes are separate 3D sculpts as well (more on that in a bit.) All printed on Bambu Lab’s H2S using PLA. Primed first with Rustoleum 2 in 1 Filler and Sandable Automotive Primer. Skin tone base was spray painted with Montana Cans Iced Coffee. Further painted and airbrushed with a mix of acrylics/ FW Ink… ink wash for aging/bring out the cracks… dry brushing for highlights.
I used the Eufymake E1 UV Printer and printed the iris/pupil directly onto the 3D printed eyes (I sculpted this area a little concave with iris ridges…so there is some depth and dimension to them rather than just printing on a flat surface.) Despite the dip in height, the E1 handled it better than I expected. I then used UV resin to build out the cornea and add gloss to the rest of the eye.
The box was cut from 1/2” birch and built by hand. Stained with Minwax wood finish.
Drilled holes for the lights…used candelabra base fixtures (Amazon) and wired behind the front frame with Wago connectors. Decorative rings around the lights were sculpted in Nomad, 3D printed, and I then used gold Rub N’ Buff for the antique color.
Attached a motion activated LED bar light with magnets to the inside top of the box.
“Destiny Speaks For Itself” side graphics and “Commune With The Beyond”/arrow were printed on the E1 UV printer using the DTF sticker paper and laminator.
The “Chatterbox” topper and vertical plaques were cut on the Glowforge Pro using Medium Maple Proofgrade. Graphics for these were printed directly onto the wood using the E1 UV Printer’s flat bed and then sanded/scuffed to add wear and aging…topper attached with metal corner braces.
Velvet interior was cut to size and attached with spray adhesive- decorative ropes/trim cut to size and then attached with hot glue (fabric and trimmings were from Hobby Lobby… along with the metal corner pieces.)
