@buckhorncliffs: The number one multi purpose chemical compound on planet earth? Sodium bicarbonate. You know it as baking soda. Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons per quart of water and dunk your produce. This removes commercial coatings, pesticide residues, and surface microorganisms. Effective and simple. Test your soil pH with two tablespoons of moist soil. Mix one sample with baking soda and the other with vinegar. Vinegar fizzes means pH above 7. Baking soda fizzes means pH below 6. Heartburn? A quarter teaspoon (or more) in 8 ounces of water neutralizes excess acid on the spot. These and many more recipes using long lasting chemical compounds are going into the book. It's close. It's taking a lot of effort but it's going to be worth it.
