@drchollkim: Becoming a spine surgeon takes a lot of years of education. I completed a five-year combined bachelor's/master's program, then a PhD at UCLA (another five years), followed by four years of medical school at Harvard, a five-year orthopedic surgery internship and residency at UCSD, and finally a one-year complex spine surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
