I have SO MUCH to say about this as a certified project manager in tech for over 15 years. I’m quite literally building and developing AI products from scratch and can reassure you, the actual human lived experience as a project manager cannot be replaced, you need the fucking HUMAN project manager to TEACH the god damned AI!!!

I agree! As a PM you either learn to work with AI or they will hire someone who will. We are starting to introduce AI tools into our project mgmt solutions now. They are not replacing PMs with AI but we use the tools to help us better manage projects. At least where I work.

Part of the reason it looks like there’s a shortage is because companies want high level skills for literal pennies. I ran a customer service department in the alcohol industry for 5 years, moved to construction and have been on the management side of that as a PE for the last 3. I have my PMP. No, I do not want to take a PM position at 50k a year.

So I just recently got laid off from KPMG and was in human capital. Did quite a few change management and training projects. I’m not in the process of getting my PMP verification? Are there any additional certifications that you would recommend that include AI? We use AI heavily on our projects which I know on my résumé. I can emphasize that, but didn’t know if there’s anything additional that I could include with my certification

It’s going g to be longer than these companies think to get AI integrated in a meaningful way too. It’s not as wonderful as they are expecting. I couldn’t even get copilot to format a 5 page document that was already pretty consistent and just needed minor adjustments.
