this breaks my heart as soemone who cherishes my family history. I understand it's not for everyone but I always think what about the children's children or even further that does care about thsi type of stuff and isn't born yet or old enough to take care of it. what a loss for them.

I used to work at digitalization of old footage on tapes and film for people. I would go through hours of footage a day and see families grow up - it was part of what led me to get let go. While we were told to just scan and remove old grainy un usable footage, I’d get too invested and watch and try to save even the bits that weren’t as clear because they still had so much that added to the film. Who was I to remove a scene that might have a second or two of static or flare ?…

I’m 44 and been hunting for old stuff of my family. Nobody in my family has things like this, but I know there is more just forgotten in the barn. I have pictures but can’t find video I know we took. It breaks my heart cause I just turned into a father and would have like to show my son stuff like this of me🥺
