@codependencykate: If you’re hesitating, step in. This doesn’t mean RESCUE, but rather COACH and help them communicate with each other. “What if I can’t step in and always be around?” Then anticipate their needs/when they’re more likely to be dysregulated so they can get them met. Relationships are about repair. #siblingdynamics

fighting between me and my sibling was always handled very poorly by our parents. they often didn't step in until it escalated (causing damage on many levels that was never really repaired afterwards) and then when they did, it was mostly sending us to our rooms to be in there alone until we were calm. we're both adults now and we don't talk anymore, I'm pretty sure we never will again. my relationship with my sibling was destroyed before either of us even hit puberty. ALWAYS step in, be there for them when they're going through conflict and teach them what healthy conflict resolution looks like, if you want to see all of them at family dinner when they've grown up.

My parents never stepped in at all. They would say”oh you can’t do that she scars easily” or it was blamed on me “upsetting her”. I still live at home and it still goes on today when she comes home from grad school.
