To me. If the airport is overbooked. It is on them. Even though it is a privilege to fly. In the end. The airport is responsible for making sure that the flight is not overbooked.

I got $2000 once. If you agree at a lower amount and it goes higher then you get whatever the highest bid ended up being. that being said youre not guaranteed to be chosen until the end and some volunteers ended up still being boarded.

overbooking sucks but as a kid, when we had to come back one day later so I skipped ine day of school and got one extra day in New York fully paid by the company I was over the moon lmao

Overbooking doesn't even make sense since if someone doesn't show up without notice they wouldn't get a refund and the company doesn't lose money. 🤷♂️
