When I worked at a day care, it was policy never to take firsts from parents. Did Izzy take her first steps today? Under no circumstances tell mom. When she takes her first steps at home, mom will be able to celebrate it. So many parents already feel guilty about having to work while their children grow up, there's no point pouring salt in the wound.

She’s not only taking firsts from Kayla but from Jason too. My man would be so upset if we were to deliberately do firsts without him. I waited the weekend he was home to do solids etc. He wants to be present for those as well. Jason should be a little more upset if you ask me

2 working parents here. Daycare said if she crawls, walks, talks, etc there for potentially the first time….no she didn’t. Firsts are for parents.

I was nannying for a family years ago and baby took her first steps with me. I didn’t say a word. Mom was so excited to tell me about kiddo’s first steps that happened that night!! There is no joy in stealing these firsts from a parent who has to work.
