surely, if we are ignoring corporate taxes, the most tax efficient way to draw £100,000 from the company would be way of a loan to the director. the only personal tax would be the beneficial loan interest tax to pay.
oh, wait we should look at the whole tax system.

If I work a job and run my own business do I get tax free allowance twice of £12,570 depending on how the business is set up? - does that make sense ?

You need to be more transparent and tell them the corporation tax being paid on profits over £50k.

Why can’t this be taught at school level! I want to go Ltd but have no clue of how. I obviously want to run it efficiently, legally and get everything I can out of it. Not knowing this scares the living crap out of me

Tax Adviser Thoughts :
To be clear - for someone (say a spouse) to be able to receive dividend income, they need to be a shareholder, being a director isn’t a necessity. You cannot pay dividends to someone who doesn’t hold shares. The only reason to bring them on as director rather than an employee is to get more flexibility around minimum wage regulations. You would also need to be careful of anti-avoidance legislation which specifically targets arrangements to direct income to a spouse, which in reality is your own income, to avoid you paying higher rates of tax. Always speak to a qualified tax adviser/accountant before deciding the best way forward.

If your spouse works and has their own job then the above doesn’t apply also as they will fall into a higher tax bracket.
