@templarapp: 5 disciplines Templars did before sunrise The Knights Templar weren't just soldiers. They were monk-warriors who followed the Rule of the Temple — a strict code written by St. Bernard of Clairvaux in 1129. Every single day, before the sun came up, they completed five disciplines. For 200 years straight. ⚔️ 1. MATINS — 2:00 AM PRAYER While the world slept, Templars were on their knees. The chapel bell rang at 2am and every knight walked to the chapel in silence. No excuses. No exceptions. The first act of the day was surrender to God. 🙏 2. LAUDS — PRAISE BEFORE FIRST LIGHT Before they could see the sun, they praised God for it. Lauds was a prayer of gratitude spoken in the dark. They thanked God for a day they hadn't earned yet. 🏋️ 3. PHYSICAL TRAINING IN FULL ARMOR Sixty pounds of chainmail, surcoat, and steel. Sword drills. Stone carries. Combat training. The Rule forbade idle games and hunting for sport — but physical discipline was mandatory. They didn't train to look good. They trained because a weak body makes a weak soul. 📖 4. SCRIPTURE IN SILENCE They sat and read God's word. No talking. No distractions. The Rule of the Temple demanded that every knight fill his mind with truth before the world could fill it with lies. Scripture was heard at every meal and every office. 🍞 5. A SIMPLE MEAL — BREAD AND WATER Their first meal was bread, water, and sometimes wine. They ate in silence while scripture was read aloud. Meat was limited to three days a week. The stomach was trained the same way as the sword arm. Comfort was the enemy. Five disciplines. Before sunrise. Every day. For two hundred years. They didn't need motivation. They had formation. The question is — what did you do before sunrise today? #christisking #Templar #disciplineequalsfreedom #discipline

You can’t be tempted if you’re sleeping, getting up late and being alone will lead you to temptation
