Heartbreaking story. We need to be more open to safe co-sleeping education. Parents are exhausted and desperate and we're telling them they can only put baby down in a clear crib on their back. Teach about the cuddle curl, safe sleep 7 etc, and parents may resort to less safe sleep positions like tummy sleeping.

As a qualified Nursery Nurse I am entitled to use the word nurse, I did three years of full time unpaid training plus regular updates and first aid courses to keep up to date with child safety and care. We are often more qualified in giving advice than a registered general nurse who does not specialise in early years care. This is a great informational video but please don’t scare people into not trusting the trained professionals.

I had such bad anxiety with my first baby surrounding SIDS, I want to buy a device that helps ease it but worried about false alarms. Is the owlet the only one that helps detect oxygen?

Devastating. So glad you mentioned about titles in job roles, coming from a a registered, qualified and up to date nurse (who currently practices as a senior resuscitation officer) I find it very frustrating individuals who use these titles so loosely and misinform others x

When can we stop safe sleep practice eg using duvet, empty crib, not having to put baby on their back etc..my sons 13m old and although he can now CLIMB out of his crib and rolls around everywhere anyway I still find myself paranoid about empty crib and back sleeping..

Never thought to put my baby into front position for sleep.. Just heard it now.. we only do tummy time which my baby gets frustrated for that in 5 mins..

My 9 month old can only roll one way, and she constantly rolls onto her stomach and cries when she gets stuck. I roll her back onto her back but she just automatically rolls back onto her front. I counted 20 times before I just gave up and let her sleep on her front, and I didn’t sleep a wink all night! Any advice please??

That’s so sad. I also agree using our professional titles in their names riles me. Sleep consultant is my biggest pet peeve!

Watching this as my baby is asleep laid on my chest, it’s the middle of the day and I’m wide awake and watching her but obviously we’re chest to chest, is this okay? I follow every bit of safe sleep advice when she naps/sleeps in her crib

I always follow safer sleep. However, my baby is 4 months old and still loves being swaddled. She sleeps all night being swaddled. I have tried unswaddling her but she wakes and struggles to settle. Any advice?
